Why one is not enough

Google still matters. It is no longer the only front door.

Google processes billions of local searches a day, and your Map Pack ranking still drives most of your enquiries. But a growing share of people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation instead of typing a search. Those platforms do not list ten results, they give one answer.

Most Scottish businesses have not structured their data for AI yet, which means an early mover advantage for the ones who do. We build one integrated search presence that covers both: the Map Pack today, and the AI citation tomorrow.

Questions

Asked and answered.

What is Local SEO?

The process of making your business visible when people search for services in your area. It covers your Google Business Profile, directory citations, reviews and location-specific content, and it determines which businesses appear in the Map Pack when someone searches "plumber near me" or "best restaurant in Glasgow".

What is Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO)?

Structuring your website and business data so AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews can find, understand and recommend your business, rather than optimising purely for keyword rankings.

Do I need both Local SEO and AEO?

Yes. Google still drives most local discovery, but AI platforms are growing fast and give one definitive answer instead of a list. Businesses that cover both capture customers whichever way they search, and most Scottish businesses are not doing AEO yet.

How long before I see results?

Most businesses see measurable Google Business Profile improvements within 4 to 8 weeks, with significant Map Pack ranking gains over 3 to 6 months depending on competition. AEO improvements can land faster once structured data is in place, since AI platforms re-crawl continuously.

Can AI platforms actually recommend my business?

Yes, when your site has proper structured data, authoritative content and strong entity signals. We have seen this work across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude. Without the right structure, those platforms will cite a competitor instead.

Do you work outside Glasgow and Edinburgh?

Yes. We work with businesses across Scotland, from Aberdeen and Dundee to the Highlands, with strategies tailored to each area's search patterns and industries.

What does it cost?

Pricing depends on scope: it starts from around £500 a month for sole traders and small businesses, scaling up for growing businesses, with custom pricing for larger or multi-location organisations. The consultation is free and gives you a clear picture before you commit to anything.
